Frequently Asked Questions

If you do not find the answer to your question, please contact us: vulcanotrekking@gmail.com

What level are the hiking routes?

Our hiking routes are carried out following safety and environmental regulations, normally through the network of trails or natural paths, designed to be done even with children or people in poor physical condition.

However, it is always recommended before booking to see the level of difficulty of each route and we advise you to follow these guidelines:

  • You are in good health and are used to doing sport on a regular basis.
  • Some of the routes are of medium and advanced level and can take you more than 5 hours of walking.

Children: 9-11 years old.

Adults: 12 years old and over.

PLEASE NOTE: children under 9 years old and adults over 69 years old are not admitted, as the insurance does not cover any possible injuries you may suffer.

Is transport included?

Of course! We have a private air-conditioned minivan with capacity for up to 6 passengers.

However, because some routes and itineraries are circular (designed to start and end at the same meeting point), feel free to join us on your own in your rental car, by bus or by taxi.

What is included in the price?

Our services always include:

  • Full insurance: civil liability, accidents, emergencies and rescue.
  • Bottle of water, snack and piece of fruit.
  • Trekking poles.
  • A local professional guide who is passionate about his island and who will be looking after you at all times. 😜

PLEASE NOTE: some of the tours may also include food, product tastings and drinks.

What is the cancellation policy?

Once we have confirmed your booking:

  1. No charge if you cancel at least 24 hours before the start of the activity.
  2. There will be no refund if you cancel less than 24 hours before the start of the activity.

For cancellations, you must contact us by email (vulcanotrekking@gmail.com) or WhatsApp (+34 608098383).

Exceptionally, 100% of your booking will be refunded in the following cases:

  • The minimum of 2 people to carry out the tour is not reached.
  • Weather warnings or emergency declarations from the Government of the Canary Islands or AEMET.

Are there any environmental rules and recommendations?

Remember that all our actions have an impact. Therefore, in order to care for and protect the environment we visit, we kindly ask you to follow these instructions:

  1. Always respect the specific regulations that may exist in a particular area. Special attention in Natural Parks and Nature Reserves.
  2. Avoid leaving the paths (do not take shortcuts).
  3. Do not touch or pick up animals or their young.
  4. Do not feed the animals.
  5. Do not uproot or alter the flora, most of which is endemic and endangered.
  6. Avoid noise pollution (shouting, loud voices, playing music with smartphones or speakers).
  7. Do not leave any type of rubbish or waste (organic or inorganic).

What kind of hiking trails are there in Fuerteventura?

  1. Local trails (SL) are the shortest, with distances of less than 10 kilometres and are marked with green signs.
  2. Short trails (PR) are between 10 and 50 kilometres long and can be completed in one or two days. They are marked with yellow signs.
  3. Long trails (GR) are longer than 50 kilometres and therefore require several days to complete. They are marked with red signs.

However, not all trails follow official paths, so some of the signs may be different. In fact, there are also Natural Paths, which are built on old infrastructures (mostly cattle tracks) and are intended for use by hikers, cyclists and animals. In addition to doing sport, following these routes offers the opportunity to discover places related to ancient trades or local culture.
